Gentle Touch. Deep Listening. Profound Healing.
The body depends on a healthy central nervous system, which is heavily influenced by the craniosacral system (CSS). The CSS includes the brain, spinal cord and spinal fluid, surrounding membranes, and bony structures in the head and sacrum. It produces, circulates, and reabsorbs cerebrospinal fluid, creating a cranial pulse or rhythm that can be monitored by light touch on almost any part of the body.
The stress of everyday living, chronic tension, injuries, surgeries, disease, and chronic dehydration can cause loss of flexibility and structural misalignment or imbalance in the craniosacral system.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a subtle yet powerful form of bodywork that uses light touch to release tension held deep within the nervous system. Working with the rhythm of the craniosacral system—the flow of cerebrospinal fluid between the cranium (head) and sacrum (tailbone area)—this therapy supports the body’s natural ability to self-correct, realign, and heal. The goal of CST is to ease restrictions inside the skull and the spine, thus relieving stress, decreasing pain, and enhancing overall health in the central nervous system.
For animals, CST offers a safe, respectful, and deeply relaxing experience that can address a wide range of physical and emotional concerns. It allows their bodies to release stored tension, trauma, and restrictions in a way that’s intuitive and non-invasive. It complements the body’s natural healing processes, bolsters an animal’s resistance to disease, and helps with pain, orthopedic issues, injuries, anxiety, and trauma.
CST is especially supportive for animals who are:
- Highly sensitive or reactive
- Healing from trauma or abuse
- Elderly or in hospice care
- Recovering from surgery or injury
- Experiencing neurological or musculoskeletal issues
